The Clothes Make the Man Stupid

ONE OF LIFE’S LITTLE LESSONS #872: Always dress for success, and that includes changing your clothes everyday.

SAN FRANCISCO, Ca. (San Francisco Chronicle) — A convicted bank robber went on a crime spree just a week after being released from federal custody and was caught in part because he never changed out of the 1980s-style clothes – including a Members Only jacket — he was wearing when he was released from prison, San Francisco police said today.

Paul Paris, 54, was released from a halfway house Feb. 2 and proceeded to rob a Citibank branch at 4638 Mission St. on Feb. 9, said robbery Inspector Dan Gardner. The robber was caught on a surveillance camera wearing a Members Only jacket and a hairnet, Gardner said — the same clothes Paris had on when his probation officer photographed him the day he was released from prison.

“It’s classic — I’ve used this line before, but once a bank robber, always a bank robber,” Gardner said. “We had a great surveillance photo.”

What’s worse, getting caught committing a crime in the same outfit from a crime committed you committed earlier or getting caught committing a crime in the same outfit from a crime committed you committed earlier…in a Members Only jacket. I hope someone had the decency to call the Fashion Police as well.

A probation officer recognized him from the photo and picked him after he hit two more banks, presumably in the same outfit. He reportedly told police he didn’t have enough time or he could have knocked over a Fashion Bug and gotten away.

He now faces several charges of aggravated robbery and not being fabulous.

Just one comment...
why don't you add your own?

i heard of another jacket related story. some guy got searched by a cop because there was a bulge in his jacket (not his pants for you perverts out there) so he wore that jacket to court, saying that a gun wouldnt fit in there and he handed it to the judge. the funny part is there was a ziplock bag in the jacket half full of crack.
