Sometimes I wonder if court houses should be required to equip brain detectors instead of metal detectors.
A guy going into one courthouse put his bag of marijuana into the pocket bowl before walking through the metal detector, according to the Abliene Reporter News.
In his defense, putting a bowl in front of a pothead is just asking for trouble.
Police arrested him on the spot and took him to the county jail, saving untold man-hours and local tax dollars by committing his crime in a law enforcement building. I wonder if the county will nominate him for the good citizen award?

to people such as Carol and Susan, i’m sure you say that and yet throw back a few glasses of wine every now and again or don’t mind people smoking cigarettes. Marijuana has been shown to have many of the same health effects as smoking cigarettes and actually some studies show have more health benefits. not to mention Alcohol kills far more people than any of the major drugs combined and yet i don’t hear anyone saying how they should ban drinking…i don’t even smoke pot but support it’s legalization. Why not just tax the hell out of it. Bring money into the economy and stop costing the tax payers money for all the petty possession charges that are locked up.

Ok, saying that chemicals in Marijuana are unknown is false. There are only about 400-500 chemicals not thousands. Saying people are grammatically correct is not a good argument since this is not formal writing. We tend to use acronyms and have typos, pointing them out is meaningless and proves nothing. I’m just using good grammar, since some of you guys said it makes you seem like you have more brain cells…
Although there are many reasons why marijuana are illegal and there is not one exact solid definite reason. This is mainly due to the long history of marijuana, it is longer than what most people believe it is to be.

I believe people really need to step back and take a look at the big picture.
Please consider a few things before you bash, or praise Marijuana;
1) It IS harmful. It DOES have carcinogens in it.
2) It DOES void ambition, and motivation, to certain extents.
3) It has been smoked for 100′s of years, a petty argument won’t change the tide of this war.
4) There is little proof of permanent brain cell damage.
Now look at things from an economic perspective;
-Imagine the jobs created by the legalization of Marijuana, preparing the lang, farming the bud, trimming the bud, harvesting the bud, processing (grinding/de-seeding if necessary) the bud, packaging, distribution, retail, ect.
-The growing of marijuana is relatively inexpensive, say it takes $20 to grow an ounce, sell the ounce for $60, make $40 in profit and taxes.
Sorry I ended quickly, I am a college student and have to run to class. I am also an avid smoker.

As a mother, I’m no longer a smoker anymore (haven’t been for 3 years, I’m not going to lose my children over a leisure), but that was the only thing that got me through high school and college. My ADHD was so bad, I couldn’t get ANYTHING done. All the medications we tried I was either allergic to, or made me so zombie-like, my family and friends could barely interact with me. As for the people who say that it makes people lazy and unmotivated, IMO, that is an untruth. Yes, it lowers motivation, but I always knew when I could smoke and when I couldn’t. In the 6 years that I smoked marijuana, I never ONCE went to work stoned. Marijuana doesn’t MAKE slackers, it makes the slackers WORSE. I knew quite a few ‘stoners’, myself included, who had the wherewithal and the self control to put responsibilities first, smoking second. So, please, let’s not stereotype. On another note, marijuana can be used for many, many, MANY things besides altering one’s state of mind. It can be used to make clothing, oil, PAPER. I hate to sound like a tree-hugger, but we could save SO many rainforests by making paper out of hemp instead of wood. Marijuana grows in one season, whereas trees take decades to grow (and be replaced). Marijuana has less carcinogens than cigarettes, (naturally, because, well…. it’s natural) and damages the brain much less than what most young Americans do by drinking. The United States Government, for chrissakes, administers it for medicinal purposes. Now, this is not to say that dumb people, such as this guy, don’t misuse and abuse marijuana. But dumb people misuse and abuse alcohol, with much more unfortunate results. I, for one, have NEVER heard of anyone who’s gotten so stoned that they passed out in their own vomit and asphyxiated, or beat their wife to death. Sorry for writing a dissertation, but I think that most people are very deluded as to the actual effects, benefits, and dangers of marijuana. The propaganda ads from the 70′s did more damage than they expected, methinks…

I agree with LawlKat. Some people just don’t understand that there is a time and a place for everything. For some odd reason there are people that go to work stoned off their ass but those same people wouldn’t got to work drunk(even though there are people that do). I’m neither against or for the legalization of marijuana but I just don’t seem to see why people make such a big deal about the drug. I agree with LawlKat 100% there is a time and place for marijuana. marijuana in itself is not a bad thing its uses are endless. Its when used too much by people with highly addictive personalities that it becomes bad, ever heard the phrase too much of a good thing. I have used marijuana for 12 years now. I have never gone to work high i use it after a hard 18 hour shift sometimes to bring me down. I know the risks and there are so many things that we put in our bodies and inhale on a daily basis that are worse for your body than marijuana. to say that everyone who smokes marijuana is “stupid” and “lazy” they are ignorant because I am a “potsmoker” and a medical doctor. I say marijuana is just what the doctor recommends.

Been using for close to 12 years… 29yr old, grad. from college, comp. sci., math minor. great job 65k+… can’t remember the last time I went more than 2 days without smokin one… no ill effects, way safer than alcohol ppl are really just dumb. Well as someone who does not get high,but have many friends that do,I have no problem with it.There are two main reasons it will not be legalized is,1. the government has spent so much money trying to stop it they will refuse to say oh well the hell with the billions we have spent trying to stop it,go ahead and use it.Plus the court systems get too much money from the charges from simple possesion.2.it can not be completely taxed.It is way too easy to grow your self.How can you say you can buy it but not grow it?

I’ve been smoking the fine stuff for roughly ten years now, and although I’m no authority on marijuana’s “thousands” of chemicals, I do have a little logic in me. Now, why do people assume that the moment pot is legalized everyone in the whole country is immediately going to rush out and get stoned and drive to work and get stoned at work and blow pot smoke in the faces of innocent children? Are YOU going to do that? Of course not. If pot is legalized, the people smoking it are probably just going to be the same people who are smoking it now. Mostly statistical jargon, but that last line is what it’s all about. It may be also important to note the low rate of lung cancer among pot smokers, despite the fact that pot contains something like ten times more cancer-causing carcinogens. Cool right? Research is being developed to study weather or not we can fight cancer with cannabis!
