There’s a reason we have to have metal detectors in this and other countries, because someone eventually was going to try and carry a weapon made of METAL through a METAL detector. Meet the man who has caused mile long lines at airports and NFL football games for the last 50 years just so we could catch him.

According to Sky News, a man trying to enter the American Embassy in Austria was caught carrying a backpack full of weapons and explosives through a metal detector.

During his post arrest interviews, he reportedly told investigators he told he was walking through a MEDAL detector and made sure to leave the three silver metals he won at the 2006 Winter Olympics in the luge.

His sack of weapons set off the detector and he took off running. He claimed he ran because he also won a bronze metal in the 100 meter dash at the 2004 Olympic Games.

Police found explosives, Islamic literature and lots of nails in the bag. Police claim the nails were meant to be used as shrapnel, but the suspect claimed they were in the bag because he was really TV handyman Bob Villa.
