Parrots usually only bite when provoked. But they can be quite ornery and even the nicest parrot will take a bite out of you now and then. Anyone who keeps multiple parrots will bleed on a daily basis. There are degrees of nips leading up to a real bite. If you’re not bleeding or missing fingers, it wasn’t a real bite. They’re beaks are strong and can crush bone, or leave huge gaping wounds. This story is not improbably at all, in fact I would be surprised if the man wasn’t bitten to the point of bleeding all over.

Actually, I’ve been around those birds before and they bite so hard it’s not even funny. It would just take one bite to start bleeding. Bleeding as much as he was would require him to be trying to pet the damn bird while it was biting him lol.
