Dumb Criminals

Dead Pets and Other Lousy Christmas Presents

We have to say this story gave us two complete different but simultaneous responses: (1) they got what they deserved and (2) what the hell was the woman doing with that dead rabbit in her handbag?

According to Ananova, some thieves stole a woman’s dead rabbit.

Actually, they stole the woman’s handbag unaware that it contained a dead rabbit only to find that it contained a dead rabbit. When the robber pulled the rabbit out of the handbag, he immediately quit his life in crime and became a children’s birthday party magician.

What could you possibly want with a dead rabbit in your handbag? I’ve come up with several possibilities…
- You’re angry at the rabbit.
- You’re using it as an example to keep the other rabbit in your handbag to behave.
- You’re a bear and you need something to use as toilet paper in case you’re in the woods.

This reminds me of a story I heard from a friend. Maybe 30 yrs ago a friend had a black cat who was in love with the neighbors white cat. He used to visit her everyday. When he didn’t come home his family feared the worse and sure enough the owner of the white cat called with the bad new that he had been killed by a car. She offered to pick him up and return him home after a shopping trip. The owner agreed. Now it was hot, close to 90 and leaving a dead can in the trunk of a car was not a good idea, so the lady put him in a paper grocery bag and left it sitting on the trunk. When the lady got to the store she turned back and saw a very large woman grab the bag and run. She stuffed herself in a telephone booth with her back to the door. When she peeked in to see what she had stolen she saw the dead cat looking up at her and fainted. The ambulance had to be called and the phone booth taken apart. There were no charges, everybody was laughing to hard to write anything. The good samaritan was to embarrassed to reclaim the body.
