Electrified copper wire + Thief who wants to steal copper wire + Scissors = …? In case you’re not good at math or puns, a man was electrocuted after he tried to steal an electrified line of copper wire.
MONTREAL (Canadian Press) – A would-be thief is dead after breaking into a Hydro-Quebec tower to steal valuable copper wire.
The man in his 40s was electrocuted when he cut the electrical wires atop the tower in the north end of Montreal.
According to city police, such thefts are becoming commonplace with the soaring price of scrap metal, including copper.
The man, who wasn’t identified and that’s probably the best thing that could’ve happened to him right now, cut a copper line that sent 13,000 volts of electricity through his body. Your Honor, I believe this man has learned his lesson.
Police have said copper thefts are becoming more and more of a common crime, according to the story. Don’t these people know that they don’t have to make their own pennies anymore? Hell, I don’t even know anyone who uses pennies anymore.
